St Lucia is situated within the Elephant Coast – the North coast of Kwazulu Natal Province.   The Elephant Coast is ideally situated on the N2 Highway along the East Coast of South Africa.

 

St Lucia is completely surrounded by a Natural World Heritage Site called iSimangaliso Wetland Park.   Lake St Lucia is Africa’s largest estuarine system.   It is 80km long and 25km wide at is widest point.   Home to over 1 200 Hippo’s and 800 crocodiles, this dynamic system host large flocks of Pelicans, Flamingo’s, Ducks, Waders and a variety of fish and other aquatic species.

 

How to get to St Lucia:

 

Johannesburg to St Lucia  (± 620 km)

 

Take the N17 to Bethal then continue along the N2 through Ermelo, Piet Retief and Pongola.   Then take the left turn-off to Mtubatuba and continue to St Lucia on the R618.

 

Durban to St Lucia  (± 240km)

 

Take the N2 north passing Richards Bay.   Turn right to Mtubatuba (See Fuel Station on your right).   Turn left and then right on the R618 to St Lucia.
